The Problems of Hiding From a Hit-and-Run

This past February, 13-year-old T. Pham found herself the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Santa Ana, California. She was on an early evening bike ride by herself when she was hit while in the middle of a crosswalk. The driver was unidentified by police until he turned himself in as a suspect in the crime. He was quickly indicted by Santa Ana Police.

Pham was left in the middle of the street with severe injuries to the entirety of her body. She was checked into the hospital in critical condition, as a result of numerous broken bones in her legs and face. The young girl was helped by other drivers at the time of the accident, as it was reported that whoever had hit the child never stopped to question her well-being. With the abandonment of Pham in the crosswalk, a case hinging upon that of a hit-and-run became concrete.

Hit-and-run accidents are not that uncommon. Rather, they occur more than anyone tends to believe. When a driver hits another vehicle or person, the results are consistently traumatic. The stark truths of the legal system cause people to be worried for their well-being if they confess fault. This problem causes people to take their chances with a hit-and-run rather than defending themselves in court.
