A driver that has been accused of causing a fatal collision with a bicycle rider in Ventura, California is facing charges for DUI, second degree murder and hit and run. According to prosecutors, the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of .39% at the time of the accident, nearly five times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in California. He stands accused of driving colliding with and killing a bicyclist while driving his Hummer and then speeding from the scene at 80 miles per hour. The defendant is currently out on bail and is scheduled for arraignment on January 18, 2012.

A combination of DUI, manslaughter and hit and run charges may spell disaster for a defendant, leading to years in prison if convicted. One of the most important steps one can take in these situations is to involve a skilled attorney.
