Troy Slaten
Troy Slaten, a criminal defense attorney at Floyd, Skeren & Kelly is the managing attorney for our firm's criminal defense practice. Located at the Calabasas headquarters office, Mr. Slaten graduated with honors from the University of Californa, Los Angeles (UCLA) and continued his education at Pepperdine University School of Law, there earning his Juris Doctorate. As a student at Pepperdine School of Law, Mr. Slaten participated in the honors Trial Team, competing in and winning various trial competitions. Before continuing his career as a criminal defense lawyer, Mr. Slaten work from the Los Angeles District Attorney's (DA's) office and was involved in a multitude of cases as prosecutor. Dealing with felony cases, including drug, theft, sex, and a multitude of other complex cases, Mr. Slaten is experienced on both sides of the court room. After his time at the DA's office, Mr. Slaten became a defense attorney and continues to deal with complex criminal cases at our firm.
Certified to administer of Field Sobriety Tests (FST's) by the International Association of Cheifs of Police (IACP) and the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA), Mr. Slaten has man skills that make him an excellent DUI attorney. Because Mr. Slaten wants to represent his clients to the best of his professional ability, he is constantly absorbing more information about DUI cases through lectures and seminars in
DUI defense. Mr. Slaten is certified to use the Alcosensor
Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS), a device commonly found in DUI investigations, and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. He is also a member of the National College of DUI Defense, and the American Bar Association, California DUI Lawyers Association, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Criminal Courts Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, and Los Angeles Bar Association. Mr. Slaten is qualified and licensed to practice law in all California State courts, as well as courts in the District of Columbia.
